I agree totally!! :'] Poor Zu-Zu really jus wants her mother's love. Most people don't get when she said "My own mother thought I was a monster...She was right, of course, but it still hurt." Jus the fact that she played it off like it was nothing means she cares about it deeply *nod* If her mom woulda not seen her as a "lost cause" at an early age, Azula wouldn't be so much like this. I analyze characters like I do real people, cuz there's always someone who IS like that.

Thing is Ursa loved her daughter very much and it hurt her to see was her father was turning her into that his endless admiration was doing in her father's eye she could do no wrong that is why Ursa was so harsh with Azula she was the only one trying to teach her love and respect of others unlike her father and that clip you used she was scolding Azula for teasing Zuko about the fact that there father was going to kill him for a chance at the throne.

thats true, i was just doing it for the POV as if ursa were mentally abusive. but apparently, she loved azula & just gave up on treating her gently or something.. see what i mean? we got more insight into this with the finale. & i think you bring up good points though!

Seriously, if Azula was just given a chance, she would turn out so differently. It's obvious she cares for Zuko (in the Beach episode, she showed slight concern for him), and I can really understand how she envies him. I mean, her mother kind of neglected her, her father obviously pushed her to be perfect, and she had no idea why her friends betrayed her. More than anything, Azula is sad character, as confused as she was, and I will always love her character.

Azula was more a product of Ozai than lack of love on mom's part, I think.
The "lack of love" from Ursa was in Azula's mind more than reality. It was a byproduct of Ozai twisting her from day 1. She was taught to manipulate & not truly love anyone. She projected that onto Ursa.
Ursa never actually called Azula a monster, but Azula thought that's what Ursa was thinking. And the real reason Azula thought that was because its what she actually thought of herself.

why thaank you. My view point on this video was a little flawed, as proved by the finale. Ursa really did love azula. but the fact that she neglected her was a form of abuse in azulas mind, causing her to think her mother didnt love her. also, azula, thanks to her father, developed some behavioral issues at a young age.
But maybe Ursa didn't really like Ozai, and Azula only reminded her of him? And Zuko was like a reflection of herself... Seriously, though, awesome video.
